In 2024, EasyReal supplied a customized Pilot UHT/HTST Plant to PT. WELLTRAS CITRA RAYA in Indonesia. The compact system supports tea beverage development and formulation trials for other liquid drink products.
The project integrates a Pilot Tubular Sterilizer, Inline Homogenizer, Aseptic Filling Cabinet and supporting Utilities. It reproduces the main stages of an industrial beverage line at pilot scale, helping the customer's technical team evaluate formulations and processing conditions before commercial production.

The customer required a laboratory-scale beverage processing system for developing tea drinks and other beverage formulations. Simple batch heating could not reproduce continuous sterilization, controlled holding time, cooling, homogenization and hygienic sample filling under conditions comparable to industrial production.
The pilot plant gives the R&D team a practical platform for testing recipes, comparing UHT and HTST conditions, studying stability after heat treatment, optimizing homogenization parameters, producing evaluation samples and reducing the material cost of full-scale trials.
Prepared beverage formulations can pass through preheating, inline homogenization, tubular heat treatment, holding, cooling and aseptic filling. Adjustable operating parameters allow different recipes and process conditions to be compared with relatively small quantities of raw material.

The pilot tubular sterilizer provides controlled continuous UHT or HTST treatment for tea beverages and other liquid products. Compared with basic batch heating, the system gives the development team more consistent control of processing temperature, holding time, flow and cooling conditions.
Trials can be used to observe how different thermal treatments affect flavor, color, aroma retention, physical stability and storage performance. The resulting data also provides a useful reference when the process is scaled to a larger commercial line.
The inline homogenizer supports uniform ingredient distribution and product stability. It is useful for formulations containing plant extracts, emulsified ingredients, suspended components or stabilizers, and allows different homogenization conditions to be evaluated before production parameters are finalized.
Controlled homogenization can improve consistency, dispersion, mouthfeel, appearance and resistance to separation during storage.
After UHT or HTST treatment, the aseptic filling cabinet provides a cleaner, controlled environment for collecting beverage samples. This helps protect the processed product from secondary contamination during tasting, formula comparison, storage observation, packaging evaluation and internal quality inspection.

Integrated utilities support heating, cooling, cleaning and stable equipment operation. A coordinated utility section helps keep experimental conditions repeatable and reduces the need for multiple independent auxiliary systems during installation.
The typical workflow is raw material preparation → mixing → preheating → inline homogenization → UHT or HTST treatment → holding → cooling → aseptic filling. The sequence and operating conditions can be adjusted to the formulation and trial objectives.
The pilot line is primarily used for tea beverage development, but it can also support trials involving herbal drinks, juice beverages, plant-based beverages, functional drinks, coffee beverages, dairy-based beverages, protein drinks, liquid concentrates and formulated liquid foods.
Pilot-scale processing reduces raw-material consumption, speeds formula comparison and helps identify separation, fouling, flavor or filling issues before investment in full-scale production. Equipment selection and test conditions should always be matched to product viscosity, acidity, particle content, heat sensitivity and required processing temperature.
The integrated system gives PT. WELLTRAS CITRA RAYA a practical platform for developing and evaluating new beverage products under processing conditions closer to real production. It also demonstrates EasyReal's ability to deliver customized pilot food-processing equipment for beverage manufacturers and research facilities in Indonesia.
