Passion Fruit Processing Line

Passion fruit has many seeds and a strong, delicate aroma. This makes it harder to process than many other fruits. A good fruit processing line must remove seeds well, keep the aroma, and run safely every day.

Shanghai EasyReal Machinery Co., Ltd. provides a complete passion fruit solution with modular processing equipment. You can produce NFC juice, seedless juice base, or concentrate. The line can also support other fruit and vegetable projects with similar needs (pulp, seeds, aroma, and hygiene).

What This Line Can Produce

This fruit processing line can be configured for:
• NFC passion fruit juice (cloudy or clear)
• Seedless juice base for blends (tropical mixes, juice drinks)
• Passion fruit concentrate (export-friendly)
• Packaging options: aseptic bag-in-drum / bag-in-box, bottles, or pouches

Why Passion Fruit Needs Special Processing

High seed content

Most of the fruit is seed–pulp. You need stable extraction and strong seed separation to get good yield and a clean mouthfeel.

Aroma is easy to lose

If oxygen enters the juice, aroma and color can drop. That is why deaeration and careful heating matter.

Hygiene decides real uptime

Seasonal work is intense. A line needs hygienic design and a strong CIP cleaning program.

Two Process Routes for Different Markets

Route A: NFC Juice Route
Best for fresh taste and local distribution.
1. Receiving and sorting
2. Washing
3. Extraction (open fruit and collect pulp)
4. Seed separation and finishing
5. Optional clarification (for clear juice)
6. Vacuum deaeration (remove air)
7. Pasteurizing or UHT (based on shelf life)
8. Filling and packing
Route B: Concentrate Route
Best for export and lower shipping cost.
1. Receiving and sorting
2. Washing
3. Extraction
4. Seed separation and finishing
5. Vacuum evaporation (raise Brix)
6. Sterilizing (often tubular)
7. Aseptic filling (bulk packs)

Full Processing Steps in One View

Step 1: Receive and Sort Fruit
Remove damaged fruit. Keep raw material quality stable.
Step 2: Wash and Clean
Use spray and brush washing. Add sanitizing if required.
Step 3: Extract Pulp and Seeds
Open the fruit and collect the seed–pulp core. Control peel contact to reduce bitter notes.
Step 4: Separate Seeds and Finish Pulp
This step is the “core” of passion fruit. It controls:
• seed removal rate
• texture (smooth vs more pulp)
• final yield
Step 5: Vacuum Deaeration to Protect Aroma
Remove air to reduce oxidation. This helps keep aroma and color.
Step 6: Optional Blending and Standardizing
Blend, adjust Brix/pH, and make a stable base for downstream processing.
Step 7: Evaporate for Concentrate
Use vacuum evaporation to reach target Brix with less heat damage.
Step 8: Pasteurize or Sterilize
Choose the heat system based on shelf life and packaging:
• pasteurizing for shorter shelf life
• UHT/sterilizing for ambient and export
Step 9: Fill and Pack
• aseptic bags for bulk export
• bottles/pouches for retail
Step 10: CIP Cleaning
A good CIP system keeps the line clean and reduces downtime.

Key Processing Equipment Modules

Passion Fruit Extractor

Designed for stable opening and pulp collection. Helps protect flavor and improves yield. The seed removal function can be selected according to actual customer needs to obtain seedless pulp.

Vacuum Deaerator

Removes air from juice. Helps protect aroma, color, and stability.

Evaporation System (Concentrate Only)

Vacuum evaporation to reach target Brix. Multi-effect designs can save energy.

Tubular Sterilizer / UHT System

Good for juice with pulp/solids. Helps maintain stable flow and reliable heating.

Aseptic Filling System

For long shelf life bulk packs. Common for export concentrate.

CIP Cleaning System

Supports hygienic operation and stable daily production.

How to Choose the Right Line

Choose by product

• NFC juice
• seedless base for blends
• concentrate for export

Choose by packaging

• aseptic bag-in-drum / bag-in-box
• bottle or pouch

Choose by shelf life

• chilled / short shelf life → pasteurizing
• ambient / export → UHT + aseptic filling
This selection method is useful for many fruit and vegetable projects too. It keeps the design clear and avoids overbuilding.

FAQ

How do you remove passion fruit seeds well?

Use controlled extraction, then seed separation and finishing. This protects yield and texture.

Can one line make NFC juice and concentrate?

Yes. Use the same front-end modules, then add evaporation and aseptic filling for concentrate.

Why use vacuum deaeration?

It removes air, reduces oxidation, and helps keep aroma and color.

What is the best export pack for concentrate?

Aseptic bag-in-drum or bag-in-box is widely used for bulk export.
